Flood Recovery Efforts
From the 2021 North Shore and Koʻolauloa floods to the devastating 2026 Kona Low, Lāhui Foundation has mobilized quickly to support communities impacted by flooding. During the 2026 Kona Low, we established community recovery hubs, coordinated volunteers and cleanup crews, distributed emergency and recovery supplies, provided Starlink communication access, and offered direct financial assistance to flood-impacted households. With the support of community partners, volunteers, and donors, we continue to stand alongside families from immediate response through long-term recovery..
Covid Response Efforts
When the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Hawaiʻi in 2020, Lāhui Foundation stepped up to care for our Koʻolauloa and North Shore communities. We organized some of the largest community food distributions in Koʻolauloa, providing food and essential supplies to families facing hardship. We also distributed hundreds of masks and other PPE to essential workers, helping protect those who continued serving our communities throughout the pandemic.
Scholarships
Lāhui Foundation believes in investing in the next generation and helping our ʻōpio move forward, especially during times of hardship. Over the years, we have awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors across Hawaiʻi, with special attention given to students and schools whose communities have experienced devastating events.
Following disasters such as the Lāhainā fires and the Kona Low floods, we have provided scholarships to students whose families and communities were directly impacted. These young people have continued their education while navigating loss, displacement, uncertainty, and recovery.
Our scholarships are more than financial assistance—they are an investment in the resilience, leadership, and future of our lāhui. By supporting students through some of their most challenging seasons, we hope to give them one more reason to keep moving forward and remind them that their community stands behind them.
Toys 4 Tots
Every holiday season, Lāhui Foundation partners with Toys for Tots to bring joy to keiki and families in our low-income communities. Each year, we host a free community holiday event, distributing hundreds of toys so families can celebrate without the added financial burden of providing gifts.
More than a toy distribution, our event is a day created for our keiki—with live entertainment, family activities, and a special Snow Day, giving children in Hawaiʻi the chance to play in the snow and experience the magic of the holiday season.
For us, it is about making sure every keiki feels remembered, celebrated, and cared for by their community.
Community Expungement Initiative
Lāhui Foundation believes that standing up for your community and ʻāina should not become a lifelong barrier to opportunity. In partnership with organizations including the Hawaiian Legal Council and Hawaiʻi Workers Center, and with the support of volunteer attorneys, we hosted an expungement event for individuals who had been arrested in connection with Aloha ʻĀina advocacy and efforts to protect their communities and ʻāina.
A past arrest record can create barriers when seeking employment, housing, professional opportunities, and other resources. When legally eligible, expungement can help remove an arrest from a person’s record, giving them greater freedom to move forward without that history continuing to affect their livelihood.
We are incredibly proud that through this effort, nearly 100 people were able to have eligible arrest records expunged. This work was about more than clearing records—it was about restoring opportunity, supporting our people, and standing behind those who have stood up for our ʻāina and communities.
